Gordon Bovinet

Gordon Bovinet studied at Eastern Illinois University (B.S. in Music Education).  He began his career as a professional singer with the St. Louis Municipal Opera where he sang for ten seasons between working with such stars as Ethel Merman, Vincent Price, Joel Grey just to name a few.  For the first seven years he also taught music in the Illinois Public Schools. An invitation to participate in the operetta „New Moon“ brought him to New York City where he was selected to be in the new Broadway show „A Doll’s Life“ directed by Hal Prince (also on CD).

After „A Doll’s Life“ closed the offer came to be Old Deuteronomy in the first European production of the musical „Cats“ In Vienna, Austria (multiple plantinum CD). The production was based in Vienna but also did short guestings in East Berlin, Germany and Moscow, Russia. During this time Gordon also taught voice at the „Theater and der Wien music school“.

Later Vienna productions he worked in include the Marlene Dietrich Musical „Ich Marlene“, „Little Shop of Horrors“ as Mr. Mushnik at the Metropol Theater,  „Pippin“ as Charlemagne at the Raimund Theater and „Fiddler On The Roof“ at Theater an der Wien.

Since 2010 Gordon has been the Musical Director of Musical Festival Guessing and has conducted productions of „Kiss me Kate“, „Jesus Christ Superstar“, „Evita“ and „Jekyl and Hyde“.

Gordon Bovinet has a private vocal studio were he coaches performers such as Lisa Antoni and Katherine Mehrling when she was starring in „Evita“ at Ronacher Theater in Vienna.
