ALEX BALGA

Alex Balga studied acting, singing and dancing at the Vienna Conservatory,
Tanz-Gesang-Studio-Theater an der Wien and the Performing Arts Studios.
After graduation in 1996 he performed in Austrian/German productions of
"Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat", "Blondel", "Grease" and
"Les Miserables".
As a College student he directed a production of "The Rocky Horror Show".
His first directing job afterwards was "Godspell" at the Capitol Theater
Düsseldorf, followed by a highly successful run of "Cabaret" starring Anna
Montanaro. After two years and it moved to the prestigious Thalia Theater
in Hamburg.
Alex created, co-wrote and directed a World Premiere Musical "Miami Nights",
which ran at the Capitol Theater Düsseldorf for two years and then moved to
the Etablissment Ronacher in Vienna.
Alex Balga is the Artistic Director of the Capitol Theater Düsseldorf, where
he directed several other smaller productions and dinner shows i.e. "Tonight".
His version of "Saturday Night Fever" (awards: "tz-Rose" and " The Star Of The
Year" by the Münchner AZ newspaper) was shown in Munich, Basel and Düsseldorf
and Frankfurt followed by a German/Austrian tour. He also directed "Fame"
for the "Musiktheater Saar" in Germany.
Upcoming projects: "Frank Wildhorn and Friends" in Budapest and Graz,
and in the summer of 2007 a new production of the rock opera "Tommy" in
Graz.
