Andreas Gergen trained at the University of Arts (Hochschule der Künste) in Berlin.
He performed various roles in numerous plays and musicals, including the part of Clopin
in Disneys HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME in Berlin.
During this engagement he got to know Gerald Michel and Christian Struppeck, with whom
he founded TOYS Musicalproduction. In this formation they brought the European première
of the musical "YOU’RE A GOOD MAN CHARLIE BROWN!" to the stage of the Kleines Theater in Berlin.
The phenomenal success of this production drew nationwide attention and the show was
highly appreciated by both press and audiences.
He directed productions of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS (Vienna and Basel), ARSENIC AND
OLD LACE (Basel), NO WAY TO TREAT A LADY, DER RÄUBER HOTZENPLOTZ, FLETSCH, NUNSENSE and PIAF
(Berlin) amongst others.
From 2004 until 2006 he was the general manager and artistic director of the Schlossparktheater
in Berlin and directed there the European premiere of the Broadway Hit URINETOWN - THE MUSICAL,
the Berlin Operetta "WIE EINST IM MAI", "THREE AT THE PATROL STATION" and the play from Rolf
Hochhuth "NIGHTMUSIC".
Since June 2006 he is "Artistic Project Manager" at the Musical-Company
STAGE ENTERTAINMENT GERMANY, where he develops new upcoming musicals.
Parallel he directs musical- and opera-productions: in December of 2006
he directed the Mozart-opera "THE MAGIC FLUITE" for the Saarländische
Staatstheater in Saarbrücken.In summer 07 he will direct the first production
of the new "Musical Festival Graz" (Frank Wildhorn's DRACULA")
Furthermore Andreas Gergen is working as an actor : In 2001 he took over
a part in the German TV-sitcom FAMILIE HEINZ BECKER, for which he received
the German Comedy Award in 2004.
