It was her award-winning portrayal of Elisabeth in the musical, Elisabeth in Vienna (1992) that proved to be Pia‘s big international breakthrough. So successful was her performance in this particular role that she was chosen to play the part again in the Netherlands as well as in Germany. She managed to secure the role of Velma Kelly (Chicago) in both London‘s West End and on Broadway in New York. She could be seen in theaters at home (NED) and abroad in the following productions: 3 Musketeers (Milday de Winter), Cabaret (Sally Bowles), Cats (Grizabella), Fosse (soloist), Evita (Evita Perón), Les Misérables (Fantine), Grease (Rizzo), Passion (Clara), Sunset Boulevard (Norma Desmond), We Will Rock You (Killer Queen), Rebecca (Mrs. Danvers), Der Besuch der alten Dame (Claire Zachanassian), Next to Normal (Diana Goodman) and Billy Elliot (Mrs. Wilkinson).

Pia also appeared in the following theatres: Other People‘s Money (Kate) in Prague, Jane Eyre (Jane Eyre), Savannah Bay (young women), Master Class (Maria Callas) and Kramer vs Kramer (Johanna)

She took part in several television series‘; Wilhelmina (M. van ‚t Sant), Annie M.G. (Conny Stuart), ONM (guest role). She coached and was a member of the jury for the Serach for series of shows;- Search for … Evita, Joseph, Mary Poppins and Zorro and its German equivalent, Me Tarzan, You Jane.

Pia received several prizes and awards within the Netherlands as well as abroad for her leading roles in Elisabeth, Cabaret and 3 Musketeers.
