is a Swiss actress, writer, director, choreographer and producer with over 30 years of experience in the entertainment industry.
Her varied background gives her the capacity to see the whole picture when creating theatre at the helm of Zeitgeist.
Flachsmann attended the Ballettschool of the Zürich Operahouse, went on to study musical theatre performance at American Musical and Dramatic Academy in NYC and obtained an acting degree at the William Esper Studio NYC, studying with the late William Esper.
Isabelle has worked on Broadway and internationally in over 30 productions. Her work has been nominated for the Prix Walo and the Swiss Comedy Award. Shows she has worked on received the Tony Award, the Prix Walo and nominations for the Deutsche Musicalpreis.
Favourite roles performed include: Mrs Wilkinson in BILLY ELLIOT (German language premiere, Originalcast), Sally Bowles in CABARET, Velma Kelly in CHICAGO, Inga in YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN (Swiss premiere), Sally Simpson in THE WHO’S TOMMY (European Broadway production), Stephanie Mangano in SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER (European Tour), Pearl in STARLIGHT EXPRESS (Germany), Ann Darrows in KING KONG (Swiss premiere), Zorah in DIE PATIENTEN (world premiere), Emmi in GUT GEGEN NORDWIND, Eva Lechner in DAS BUCHENWALDLIED (world premiere) and Rachel in GREATEST DAYS (Swiss premiere). Isabelle was part of the American dance line-up the RADIO CITY ROCKETTES.
As a singer Isabelle had a record deal with Warner Records Germany and hit the popcharts in several countries. She has performed at Hallenstadion Zürich as a special guest vocalist for ART ON ICE and as opening act for ENERGY STARS 4 FREE. As a swing and jazz vocalist she performed at New York Supper Club under the direction of Mercedes Ellington.
Isabelle is co-founder, headwriter and co-producer of the Swiss comedy line-up
DIE EXFREUNDINNEN with performances at MAAG Halle Zürich, Arosa Humorfestival, das Zelt and other luminous locations throughout Switzerland.
Flachsmann has written book and lyrics for the musical DIE BREMER STADTMUSIKANTEN. The show performed at Bernhard Theater Zürich, MAAG Halle Zürich and Gebrüder Grimm Festspiele Hanau. She co-wrote and co-composed the musical DIE PATIENTEN with Frank Ramond, Marco Rima and Derek von Krogh and co-authored four comedy programs and the review BACKSTAGE. Her first screenplay is in preproduction.

FOOTLOOSE, FLASHDANCE, (German language premiere), SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER, DADDY COOL, CHICAGO, DER LÖWE DER NICHT SCHREIBEN KONNTE, SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD, SECHS TANZSTUNDEN IN SECHS WOCHEN, KING KONG, TICK TICK BOOM and GENERATION OHNE ABSCHIED bringing Borchert texts to life in an anti-war story including Ukrainian and Jewish compositions at the onset of the Ukraine war (Nomination: face of the year award)
Isabelle has performed on Swiss and German TV and was featured on following US shows: the Today Show, Tony Awards, David Letterman, the Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Morning Show.
Flachsmann is set to direct the reboot of the musical KEEP COOL premiering at Theater 11 Zürich in October 2026.
