Katja Reichert

Maria in West Side Story has been Katja’s signature role, taking her to many major theatres and opera houses in Europe, as well as the original Broadway production tour. Other musical theatre roles include Belle (Beauty and the Beast), Louisa (Fantasticks), Irene Molloy (Hello Dolly), Mrs. Bell (Fame), Bianca/Lois (Kiss Me Kate) and many more.
Katja received her Musical Theatre training on Broadway in New York (AMDA), and consistently emphasized both the singing and the acting aspects of her art with equal importance. She in fact began her studies with experimental theatre in New York, where she also performed in original Shakespeare plays. Moving on to Musical Theatre and returning to Europe she has since then continually been engaged in many genres of the performing arts. She successfully began her operetta career, playing important roles such as Adele (The Bat), Eurydice (Orphée aux Enfers), Anita (Giuditta), Madame Pompadour, Valencienne (The Merry Widow) and many others. Her operatic roles include Gretel (Hansel and Gretel) and Papagena (The Magic Flute) as well as several world premieres of contemporary operas.
Katja continues to expand her horizons, finishing her training as Vocal Coach with the Complete Vocal Institute in Copenhagen, Denmark, thus allowing her vocal abilities to evolve in even more directions.
