Andreas Bongard

Andreas Bongard graduated in the class of 2014 with a Masters-degree in musical theatre performance from New York University Steinhard School.  He received his BFA from the renowned Folkwang University of Arts in Essen, Germany and studied voice in the studios of Prof. Noelle Turner and Michael Ricciardone. He has appeared as Claude in HAIR, Dick in HIGH FIDELITY (European Premiere), Rodney Hatch in ONE TOUCH OF VENUS, Dusoleil in AMOUR (German Premiere ‘Ein Mann geht durch die Wand’), Schroeder in YOU’RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN and Radames in AIDA. As a soloist he has been involved in CD recordings and TV productions and his versatile concert activities brought him to several countries, including China. He has participated in several master classes worldwide, one where he worked with Broadway composer Jason Robert Brown. At the German Rock and Pop Awards he received first and second prize as “Best Musical Theatre Singer” and “Best Pop Singer”. He has been awarded with the Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship and the Vocal Performance Scholarship of New York University. In New York he’s been involved in several readings of new musicals, short-films and voice-over projects and has been seen in NYU’s productions of City Of Angels, Sweet Smell Of Success, Carousel and Oh, What A Lovely War under director Meg Bussert (Tony nominated) and performed at Radio City Music Hall or Yankee Stadium.  In 2014 he created the role of Paul Ackermann in the world-premiere of the original musical DAS WUNDER VON BERN (based on the movie The miracle of Bern), produced by Stage Entertainment for the new built ‘Theater an der Elbe’ in Hamburg, Germany.  He played Tony in Leonard Bernstein’s WEST SIDE STORY at the Theatre St. Gallen in Switzerland and during the summer of 2016 Woof in HAIR in Magdeburg, Germany. From September of 2016 he could be seen in the world premiere production of  Stephen Schwartz’s SCHIKANEDER at the Raimund Theater in Vienna, Austria followed by the role of Harold Bride in TITANIC in Bad Herslfeld, Germany. In December 2017 he created the role of Carl in Stage Entertainment’s production of GHOST and in February of 2019 he created the role of Nino in the German premiere production of AMELIE in Munich. In Autumn 22 he can be seen as Corny Collins in Hairspray in Nuremberg. Andreas is fluent in English and German.
