Felix Martin

 

Born in Hamburg, he first appeared on stage at the Hamburg State Opera as a twelve-year-old in Mozart’s „Magic Flute“. He received his training at the renowned Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna, where he made his debut at the Burgtheater in „Der Hauptmann von Köpenick“.

In Berlin he played title roles in the world premiere SCHLEMIHL at the Theater des Westens, ELVIS (Audience Award „Daphne“) and Frank N. Furter in the ROCKY HORROR SHOW at the Berliner Kammerspiele. Peter Weck brought Felix Martin to Vienna’s Raimund Theater for the original German-language cast of LES MISÉRABLES as Marius, and for the world premiere FREUDIANA as Prof. Spiegel. He played the role of Tod in ELISABETH at the Theater an der Wien under the direction of Harry Kupfer, in the Duisburg production of LES MISÉRABLES he appeared repeatedly as Marius and in Hamburg he played Colloredo in the musical MOZART!

He thrilled the audience in the musical DANCE OF THE VAMPIRES in Hamburg and Berlin under the direction of Roman Polanski in the role of Count von Krolock. In 2008/2009 he played Death again under the direction of Harry Kupfer in ELISABETH at the Berlin Theater des Westens and at Theater 11 in Zurich.

In NEXT TO NORMAL he could be seen in two productions in different roles. In Vienna, Fürth and Dresden he played Dan Goodman in 2016 under the direction of Titus Hoffmann. At Berlin’s Renaissance Theater in 2015, he could be seen as Dr. Madden/Dr. Fine under the direction of Torsten Fischer. At Vienna’s Ronacher he was on stage in 2016 as Juan Perón in EVITA. In 2017, he premiered at Berlin’s Stage Theater des Westens as Archdeacon Frollo in Disney’s „THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME“; with a guest appearance at the Deutsches Theater in Munich. From February 2018, he will again play the role of Archdeacon Frollo at the Stage Apollo Theater Stuttgart.

 He fascinated as Puck in the musical adoption EIN SOMMERNACHTSTRAUM by Heinz Rudolf Kunze in the Herrenhäuser Gärten Hannover. At the Theater Lüneburg he slipped into the role of Albin/Zaza and advanced to the audience favorite in LA CAGE AUX FOLLES. 2013/2014 he played Leopold in WEISSEN RÖSSL at the Freilichtspiele Schwäbisch Hall. At the Arena Tour 2014 and at the Musicalzelt Oberhausen 2015 he played Ebenezer Scrooge in VOM GEIST DER WEIHNACHT.

 He took on other leading roles in A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM, DU BIST IN ORDNUNG, CHARLIE BROWN, DORIAN GRAY, and as Danny in GREASE, among others. For Alex in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ASPECTS OF LOVE in Dresden, he was awarded the „Image“ for best male lead. On TV he was also seen in „I’m marrying a family“ and „Atlantis“.
 
As a soloist, he performed in musical and gala concerts, including: „Summer Night of the Musical,“ „ELISABETH – The 10th Anniversary Concert“ at the Vienna Konzerthaus, „BEST OF MUSICAL 2004!“/ Kölnarena, „Felix Martin & Friends“ and „50 Years of the Berlin Theater Club“ Deutsche Oper.

For 3sat he led as a presenter and singer through the gala „HOMMAGE AN HARALD JUHNKE“, in the same function he could be seen at the „STERNSTUNDEN DES MUSICALS“ with the Philharmonic Orchestra Vorpommern.

Since 2005 Felix Martin has very successfully presented his solo programs „MUSICALS & MORE“, „Felix Martin Pur & Unplugged“ and „Best of Felix Martin“. These artistic forays through his rich stage career hold a few surprises in store for the enthusiastic audience.

There are five solo CDs by Felix Martin: „Musical Changes“, „Walking on the Sun“ and „Die unstillbare Gier“, which stayed at number 1 in the German musical charts (solo albums) for several months. December 2006 his first live CD „Felix Martin LIVE“ with highlights from his solo program „MUSICALS & MORE“ was released. In autumn 2008 he released his highlight CD „Der letzte Tanz“ with songs from the musical ELISABETH, which immediately reached number 1 in the musical charts.

In the 2008 readers‘ poll of the musical magazine DaCapo, Felix Martin was voted number 1 in the categories „Best Male Voice“ as well as „Best Show“. In 2009 he was again voted by the DaCapo readers to 1st place for „Best Male Voice“ as well as „Best Actor“ (Death in Elisabeth).
